Mark Payne Garden Maintenance is a high-end landscaping company based in West Sussex; we endeavour to create and develop beautiful, long-lasting gardens for our clients. With a portfolio encompassing intimate courtyards, contemporary townhouses, romantic cottage gardens and rambling countryside retreats, we feel confident this is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified plantsman or plantswoman to join our team of Horticulturalists.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will involve implementation of planting plans to create and maintain high quality landscapes to a prestigious standard. Garden development to include but not limited to; hedge trimming, lawn maintenance and cultivation, strimming, pruning, topiary maintenance, garden pest and disease control. To maintain a positive and pleasant work environment, ensuring high levels of organisational effectiveness, communication, and safety. Candidates will need to show they can problem solve, be adaptable and prioritise in an industry that is affected by changing weather, climate and trends.

Junior Gardener Job Description £22,000-£24,000 (DOE)

Required for the role:

· A qualification in Horticulture

· Excellent communication skills and personable manner

· A strong sense of aesthetics with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to achieving high standards

· Physically fit and comfortable working in all weathers and seasons

· Current, Clean Driving License

It is desirable but not essential to have:

· Experience working in a similar role within the industry

· RHS Qualification (Level 2)

· Experience of identifying pests and diseases

· Comprehensive understanding and practical knowledge of seasonal pruning

· Knowledge of arboriculture principles and practices, or a horticultural specialism such as Topiary,

Hedge Trimming, lawn care

· Knowledge of garden equipment/machinery

· Chainsaw License

· Spray certificates (PA1 and PA6)

· First Aid qualification

Experienced Gardener Job Description £24,000-£28,000 (DOE)

Required for the role:

· An RHS Qualification (Level 2 minimum)

· Extensive knowledge of horticulture; including knowledge of garden equipment/machinery

· Experience cutting hedges and knowledge of appropriate hedge pruning techniques and timings.

· Experience of identifying pests and diseases

· Comprehensive understanding and practical knowledge of seasonal pruning

· Excellent communication skills and personable manner

· A strong sense of aesthetics with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to achieving high standards.

· Physically fit and comfortable working in all weathers and seasons

· Current, Clean Driving License

· At least 2 years’ experience working in a similar role within the industry.

It is desirable but not essential to have:

· Knowledge of arboriculture principles and practices, or a horticultural specialism such as Topiary, lawn care.

· Chainsaw License

· Spray certificates (PA1 and PA6).

· First Aid qualification
